Dialing these Phone numbers in
Baja:
Each phone number is preceded with (01)
(6). Dial (01) (6) when you are calling long distance from one Baja city to
another. (01) is used to signify your call is long distance. It is equivalent
to dialing 1 in the USA to start your long distance call. The (6) is the area code
for northern Baja and must be dialed when you are calling an area of northern baja that is
long distance (from one city to another). If you are dialing to location within the
same city or town, you would not need the (01) or the (6). In that case you would
dial the number direct.
Here are some examples:
To dial the Tijuana
General
Hospital from Rosarito, or anywhere Mexican city outside of
Tijuana, you would dial 01-6-16840922
To dial the Tijuana
General
Hospital from within Tijuana, you would simply dial 16840922.
And one more... to dial the
Tijuana General Hospital from the USA, you would dial 011-52-
6-16840922. In this
case the 011 is the equivalent to the 01 within Mexico and the 52 is the country code for
Mexico. The next 6 signifies northern Baja and the 16840922 is the local phone number
for the Tijuana General Hospital.
Note: Baja
recently added the 1 to the beginning of all numbers. So whereas you used to dial
6840922,
you would now dial 16840922.
The three digit numbers are special
numbers that may be dialed from anywhere within Baja (such as 911 and 411 in the
USA).
